Sanyo VPC-HD1 high definition video and still image recorder

 It looks like a prop for a Star Wars movie or the latest version of Star Trek. The new Sanyo VPC-HD1 is a cool looking and affordable combination digital still camera and MPEG4 High Definition video recorder. It is tiny - only 3.1" x 4.7" x 1.4".

It can capture great looking stills - up to 5 megapixels, perfect for printing out big images! By using a 2 GB SD card, you can store up to 40 minutes of High Definition video. Once stored you can transfer it to your PC or Mac computer via USB for editing or burning to a DVD. You watch it back on a TV set or record it to a DVD recorder or video recorder via SVHS.  With a 10x optical zoom, it can focus down to 1 cm away form the edge of the lens and offers built in flash, image stabilization and wind noise reduction. It uses an 2.2 inch OLED display monitor to provide quicker response and less drain on your batteries.

This is not a "professional" camcorder unit but should provide pretty good looking still images and video without a big hit to your wallet.
