files.

Sharing videos
on the Web is hot! It's been just a
year since video sharing really got
going, and already we take it for
granted. But perhaps you're getting
confused by the increasing number of
video sharing sites and can't figure
out what's best. Well, don't worry.
We've done the hard work for you -
and you'll be surprised to learn
that the most popular sites aren't
necessarily the best choices for
sharing.
When choosing which video sharing
sites to review, we took into
account their popularity,
ease-of-use, file size limitations,
format flexibility, and options to
download, post or podcast your
video. Then we grouped the sites by
the benefits they offer their
visitors:
1.
Best sites to publish VIRAL videos -
comedies and weird movies.
2.
Best sites to share NEWS.
3.
Best sites to share HOME videos with
family and friends.
4.
Best sites to EDIT SHARED videos
online.
5.
Best sites to upload and MONETIZE
your videos.
All of the sites in the chart are
free, and most allow you to upload
sizable video files. The file
formats accepted differ from site to
site - some even recommend a
particular video format and
resolution to achieve the best
online quality. In our chart, you'll
find the required formats and
characteristics for each site (but
of course, if your video doesn't
match the requirements of the site,
you can always use
Movavi
VideoSuite
to quickly convert your video to an
acceptable format and size!)

YouTube
The winner by a
mile! Upload, watch,
post, email,
comment, subscribe,
be subscribed, etc.
But no downloading
options.
|
No limits, but
files over 100MB
should be
compressed.
|
Recommended formats:
MPEG4 (DVX,
XVID)320*240
|
MySpace Videos
Plenty of community
features, and the
sharing options
might be even
greater.

very awkward to use.
We don't understand
why it's so popular.

100Mb
|
MPG,
MPEG, MPE, AVI, WMV,

Grouper
Lots of functions:

difficult to
navigate.

2. You want to
make NEWS. If
you're a budding
video journalist,
you can submit
footage to CNN or
ABC. Who knows? Your
video could be on TV
around the world
tonight! But to make
the cut, your video
must cover a
significant and
important event or
confirm a social
trend. Be warned:
you will have to
fill in long forms,
and you'll never be
sure if it reaches
the right audience.
Persistence is
required!

with those from
other users, lay
down music and even
apply special

A final note: don't ignore
the small print. Look
through the sites' Terms of
Use. Most free video sharing
services grant themselves a
license to monetize and
advertise your uploaded
content any way they can,
which is no help to you if
you're trying to earn money
from your videos.
Yahoo Inc., for instance,
grants itself the license to
use, distribute, reproduce,
modify, adapt, publicly
perform and publicly display
your video for advertising,
promotional or commercial
purposes in any media format
or medium and through any
media channels.
But at least, armed with
this basic information, you
can go out and explore
sharing your video
masterpieces. Good luck!
