The
Media That Matters
Film Festival is the premiere showcase for short films
on the most important topics of the day. Local and global,
online and in communities around the world, Media That
Matters engages diverse audiences and inspires them to take
action.
From gay
rights to global warming, the jury-selected collection
represents the work of a diverse group of independent
filmmakers, many of whom are under 21. The films are equally
diverse in style and content, with documentaries, music
videos, animations, experimental work and everything else in
between. What all the films have in common is that they
spark debate and action in 8 minutes or less.

Based in
Australia,
Nice
Shorts is a new short film website that hosts
award-winning short films from all over the world. Their
goal is to provide up-and-coming filmmakers a free and
non-exclusive venue for getting their work out there. As
they are filmmakers themselves, they believe in the use of
the internet as the newest and (possibly) most effective
tool for getting films seen by a worldwide audience.
They are
currently non-profit and are relying on word of mouth to
help the site grow. They are looking for new films for
the site and are currently spotlighting short films from
all over the world, including The Philippines,
Australia, Mexico, Denmark, the US and the UK.

MTVu - This is a killer site
with lots of money behind it.
Produced by MTV
- mtvU is dedicated
to every aspect of college life--from the music to the news
to student life to campus events. The channel is designed to
reflect the fast pace of students' lifestyles, and to reach
them everywhere they hang out, whether they're watching TV
in their dorm rooms, surfing the web, or walking across
campus. With an obvious emphasis on music, the site also
features video and editorial content about all aspects of
being young and hanging out at college.
Finally, mtvU also is
dedicated to providing a variety of opportunities--on-air,
online and on campus--to empower and entertain students
including pro-social initiatives, grants, contests, events,
tours and more. This means they are looking for videos.
