This is a great book if you are just starting out in digital photography and graphic design. Based around Adobe's Photoshop Elements, it walks you through many of the tasks and challenges that digital photographers face as they master the technology. It starts with basic cameras tips and tricks and then seques into the use of Adobe Elements. It describes the process and demonstrates how to do it in Adobe Elements. However, most of the exercises  can be implemented using other digital imaging and editing programs.

The book's step-by-step instructions, illustrated with full-color "before" and "after" examples, show you how to turn disappointing photos into super shots. Some help you fix images you can't re-take, while others demonstrate how to adjust settings, lighting, and other factors so what you get is what you want.

"If you have an earlier version of Elements, you'll find a fair number of similarities in the basic editing functions, but Elements 5 gives you a lot of new ways to tackle old projects," says Brundage. Her new book clearly and concisely explains how all the new tools and commands work and when to use them. "With so many appealing new features, Photoshop Elements 5 is definitely a welcome, even essential update, no matter which version of Elements you might have used before." more
