VBrick Systems Delivers Dynamic Plug-and-Present
Streaming Video
and Multimedia Capabilities
Wallingford, CT (April 17, 2006) - VBrick Systems, Inc., an
industry leader in affordable video over IP network solutions, today
introduced VBrick webcast kits that provide new levels of simplicity
for setting up and broadcasting video/multimedia presentations. The
VBrick webcast kit is an out-of-the-box presentation streaming
solution that combines video, multimedia slides and web content, as
well as interactive audience polling and Q&A capabilities.
The VBrick webcast kits – VBCorpCast for business and VBEduCast for
education – empower users to stream dynamic presentations
economically. VBrick’s sophisticated multimedia capabilities blend
real-time audio/video, live synchronized PowerPoint slides, and
guided web browsing, which enables presenters to incorporate
embedded video and flash animation by launching web pages. Polling
and Q&A capabilities provide engaging real-time communications
between the presenter and the audience. The VBCorpCast and VBEduCast
kits enable users to initiate all multimedia presentation
capabilities using the Microsoft PowerPoint interface, thereby
eliminating the need to learn new applications.
“Digital video is quickly becoming the communications method of
choice because it engages the audience, conveys key points to
viewers quickly, and increases viewer retention,” said Steve Vonder
Haar, founder and research director, Interactive Media Strategies.
“To capitalize on presentation streaming capabilities, organizations
require an intuitive solution that is also economical. VBrick’s new
webcast kits combine ‘plug-and-present’ simplicity and rich features
to address the growing demand for streaming anywhere.”
The VBrick webcast kit broadcasts interactive content to employees
via existing IP corporate networks or Internet viewers globally
using minimal bandwidth resources. VBrick multicasting technology
enables an unlimited number of local area network users to view a
video stream, while only requiring the bandwidth for a single
stream. Additionally, intuitive management enables presenters to
record live presentations and deliver them on demand easily.
“Online education should mirror the successful classroom setting and
also provide the added flexibility to view course content anytime,
anywhere,” said John Horvath, director, Distance Education Services,
University of Nebraska Kearney. “VBrick is enabling us to provide
lectures, multimedia content, and online interaction between
students and teachers easily without adding complexity for students,
professors, or staff.”
VBCorpCast and VBEduCast Components
The webcast kits include a VBrick appliance to stream live Windows
Media audio and video; VBPresenter, which provides seamless
PowerPoint and related multimedia content; a video camera, and a
prepaid streaming service. Additional component background follows:
• WM Network Video Appliance: Provides reliable video streaming and
intuitive management capabilities that enable organizations to
launch Windows Media streaming video in minutes. The combination
server/encoder appliance delivers powerful and reliable audio/video
streaming while enabling organizations to optimize their Microsoft
investments. In addition to multicasting streams to an unlimited
number of local area networked users, the VBrick appliance also
supports 200 separate (unicast) Windows Media sessions per
appliance, allowing organizations to deliver live video virtually
anywhere. For high-viewership broadcasts, users send a single
Internet stream to a reflector server, which has the capacity to
support global audience demand for Internet streaming content
• VBPresenter: Offers robust multimedia capabilities. The powerful
PowerPoint add-in provides synchronized slides and guided web
browsing to expand traditional Internet audio/video streaming
capabilities. Guided web browsing enables users to include embedded
video and flash animation in their presentations. Additionally,
VBPresenter enables interactive communications between the Internet
streaming viewers and the presenter via real-time audience polling
and Q&A capabilities
• Video camera, microphone, tripod, and accessories: Features an
easy-to-use video camera that provides high quality and reliability
• Prepaid streaming service: Each VBrick webcast kit includes
prepaid streaming/hosting service from PowerStream, a national
Internet service provider. This component allows anyone to start
streaming via the Internet immediately without increasing their
bandwidth capabilities or searching for a streaming provider
“Clear, timely communication is critical to arming employees with
the tools for success and articulating corporate advantages to the
marketplace,” said Rich Mavrogeanes, founder and CTO of VBrick
Systems, Inc. “VBCorpCast enables organizations to broadcast
engaging streaming presentations in minutes for critical initiatives
including new product technical training, a quick sales team
presentation that addresses new market opportunities, sales channel
training, and ongoing compliance education.”
