P2P Live Streaming Company RawFlow To Demo New Self-Broadcasting Tool At IPTV World Forum 07
London
(December 21, 2006)
- RawFlow, a leading
provider of live
peer-to-peer
streaming technology
for internet
broadcasts today
announced that it
will exhibit and
sponsor the IPTV
World Forum in
London in March
2007. The company
will also demo its
revolutionary
to-be-launched live
publishing tool for
User Generated
Broadcasting -
SelfCast at booth
70.
The internet is
rapidly becoming a
significant delivery
platform for
content, and with
year 2006 going down
as the year of
online video,
RawFlow is
interested whether
2007 will be the
year of live
internet TV.
RawFlow’s Chief
Executive Officer
and founder, Mikkel
Dissing, commented:
“It is about time
that people open
their eyes to what
web 2.0 really will
mean for content
owners and ISPs.
When TV streaming
becomes as popular
as standard TV, the
entire internet
might be threatened.
The only way to
handle this new rich
media demand is via
a distributed
approach such as
peer-to-peer (P2P).
We’d like to be part
of the IPTV World
Forum in order to
demonstrate how P2P
can help solve some
of the distribution
challenges of
internetTV – but
also; to introduce
new P2P streaming
based opportunities
– such as our new
User Generated
Broadcast tool -
SelfCast”.
SelfCast is to be
launched next year
and can be built
into any existing
social community
site. It will allow
for live
broadcasting of
video and audio.
“There’s more to
internet
broadcasting than
pod-casts and short
clips on YouTube. We
want people to be
able to interact
live, and because
SelfCast is p2p
based, the bandwidth
costs are minimal”,
Mikkel Dissing
commented.
RawFlow’s CEO Mikkel
Dissing will be
speaking on a panel
session at TvOverNet
called “TVoverNet:
Threat or
opportunity?”. Along
with Mikkel Dissing
debates Vincent
Dureau (Head of TV
Technology, Google
Inc), Griff Parry
(Director of
Broadband and
Mobile, Sky), Andrew
Wilding (European
MD, Vividas), and
Ian Walker (Director
of New Business
Development for IPTV,
Advanced Digital
Broadcast). The
panel session is
chaired by Philip
Buxton (Editor,
Revolution).
Next year’s IPTV
World Forum, taking
place in Kensington
Olympia, London 5-7
March 2007, will
also run in parallel
with The Connected
Home (www.the-connected-home.co.uk)
and The TV over Net
conference (www.tvover-net.com).
A three day joint
exhibition for all
three conferences
will be free to
attend.
