ATLANTA, Aug. 2, 2007 – Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) invites emerging filmmakers to showcase original short films on its on-demand in-flight entertainment system and on delta.com. Delta is partnering with Gen Art -- an organization dedicated to showcasing the best emerging talent in film, fashion, visual arts and music -- to host the second annual “Delta’s Fly-In Movies” national short film competition. The Official Airline of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, Delta offers filmmakers a unique opportunity to showcase their short films, and win cash, travel and a trip to the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
Film submissions are being accepted through Sept. 12, 2007. Industry professionals will choose five finalists who will have their short films shown online at delta.com and on Delta’s domestic transcontinental flights, through its industry leading in-flight entertainment system. Viewer’s will vote on the winning film Dec. 1, 2007 through Jan. 20, 2008.
All five finalists will receive a trip to the 2008 Sundance Film Festival to attend “Delta’s Fly-In Movies” celebration, where the winning film will be announced. The winning filmmaker will receive a $10,000 cash award and a pair of round-trip tickets valid for any international Delta flight*. Last year’s winning filmmaker, Phillip Van (“High Maintenance”), went on to win the Audience and Grand Jury prize for short film at the 2007 Gen Art Film Festival, as well as a very prestigious Student Academy Award.
Delta’s Fly-In Movies submission requirements are the following:
- All entries must be of no greater duration than 10 minutes;
- All genres will be considered;
- Film must have been completed after September 2006;
- Submission deadline: Sept. 12 to: Gen Art, Attn: Delta Fly-In Competition, 133 W. 25th Street, 6th Fl, New York, NY 10001;
- Submission fee: FREE until Aug. 31; $20, thereafter (check, money order, credit card);
- All submissions must be on DVD;
- All submissions will also be considered for 2008 Gen Art Film Festival.
