Gotuit Launches
Tools for Broadband Video Monetization
Gotuit VideoMarker
Pro™ Is Industry’s First Video Metadata
Authoring Application
Woburn, MA – April
30, 2008 –
Gotuit,
the Video Metadata Company, today announced
the launch of Gotuit VideoMarker Pro™,
an application for publishers to package and
present their broadband video libraries with
a new level of rich video metadata that
drives greater traffic, longer session
times, and superior monetization.
Gotuit VideoMarker Pro
is used by broadband publishers to author
metadata describing each scene within the
source video, without requiring any clipping
or video editing. Each scene is defined with
a Title, Description, Time In, Time Out,
Thumbnail, and any Attributes which can be
customized by the publisher. Scenes can be
referenced in any number of Playlists
allowing publishers to offer multiple paths
through the library for viewers to
personalize their experience.
“Publishers now recognize
that to fully realize the value of their
video libraries, they must make their video
easier to find and more enjoyable to watch,”
said Mark Pascarella, CEO of Gotuit. “Gotuit
VideoMarker Pro puts this power into the
hands of publishers and fundamentally
changes how broadband video can be
monetized.”
Video unleashed with Gotuit
metadata enjoys increased traffic as
publishers can now syndicate much more
detailed feeds into popular search engines.
With each scene inside each video defined,
the amount of indexed information grows by
orders of magnitude. For example, users can
search for particular character names or
player names and see all the scenes where
they appear. This enhanced video search is
also available on the publisher’s site
itself.
Session time grows as
viewers now have multiple paths through the
library and a more engaging experience
overall. Rather than just a listing of video
assets, publishers can now offer more
compelling choices. Watch content By
Character, Plot Line, Topic, Highlights,
Funniest Lines, or other options depending
on the publisher’s creativity. This
flexibility allows publishers to
continuously monetize their archive by
maintaining relevance over time.
With more visitors watching
more video, the amount of advertising served
increases dramatically. Importantly, the
scene-level metadata can be used for
increased targeting of both in-page text and
banner ads as well as in-stream video ads.
Advertisers enjoy greater control over where
their ads will appear and publishers can
command higher CPMs for this capability.
More ads times higher CPMs results in
greater content monetization.
The result is a powerful
return on investment for publishers, as the
above benefits are realized with a minimal
effort. Gotuit VideoMarker Pro is designed
to be easily used by non-video editors and
it takes just a fraction of real-time,
typically 25-30%, for publishers to author a
complete metadata file describing all the
scenes in their long-form video programming.
Gotuit VideoMarker Pro is
backed by Gotuit’s defining patent portfolio
covering the use of metadata for the
improved search, navigation, and
monetization of stored content.
