Rafter Video Contest Volume 2

Asthmatic Kitty: Rafter Video Contest V2
Rafter Video Contest Volume 2

Rafter's new EP, which is sweaty, magical, and ergo very appropriately titled Sweaty Magic, is available for order right now. It's the perfect booty-shaking disc for college students returning to dorm halls, or 75 year old veteran dancers wanting to shake up the weekly shuffleboard-a-thon.

But unfortunately, as visceral as this little EP is, compact discs are limited in that they convey only sound, not visuals. Enter: You. And YouTube. And cash. Lots of cash.

Asthmatic Kitty and Microcinema invite you to create a music video for one of three Rafter songs.  Below are three links. Download the mp3s, pick your favorite song and make a music video.  Upload your music video to the Rafter Sweaty Magic Contest group on YouTube.  A specially selected panel of celebrity judges, including Dan Deacon, Sasha Barrese, Christine Starkman, The Liars, Yo Gabba gabba, Leslie Hall, and Adrian Grenier, will judge the videos.

The contest began on August 28th and will run until 11:59PM EST November 15th, 2008.  We'll announce winners here on asthmatickitty.com on December 1st, 2008.

The three songs to choose from: SweatJuicy or Salt.

Oh yes, the prizes!

1st Prize - $1000, 2nd Prize - $500, 3rd Prize - $250.  Three runner ups will be chosen by Asthmatic Kitty staff and will receive some AK related goodies (i.e. t-shirt and CDs.)

About Asthmatic Kitty - asthmatickitty.com

Born in 1999, Asthmatic Kitty Records was originally conceived as a platform for musical projects by a community of artists from Holland, Michigan, a small city on the shore of Lake Michigan. Some were Holland natives, and others had come to attend local colleges and universities. While the original Holland nucleus has now dispersed to various parts of the country, the fellowship is still growing, with new friends and shared projects with other independent labels. Asthmatic Kitty is now based in Lander, Wyoming, Indianapolis, Indiana and New York City.

Current artists on the label include:  Bunky - Castanets - Cryptacize - Future Rapper, et al. - Half-handed Cloud - Liz Janes - My Brightest Diamond - Rafter - Chris Schlarb - Shapes and Sizes - Sufjan Stevens - The Curtains -  I Heart Lung - DM Stith - Shannon Stephens - Osso - Hermas - Zopoula - The Welcome Wagon - Grampall Jookabox - visual artist Laura Park

Asthmatic Kitty was named after Sara, a voluptuous orange and white longhair who wandered out of the woods in 1995, pregnant, starving, and afflicted with various parasites and ailments, including feline asthma. Although she still wheezes a bit, especially when being chased by her sister Tabby, Sara today enjoys a healthy and happy life of luxury. Cast-off animals make the best pets!
