VIDEOSURF AND VERIZON WIRELESS DEBUT VIDEO SEARCH MOBILE APP FOR 4G SMARTPHONES

New Mobile App Will Allow Users to Easily Identify, Search and Discover Video Content

LAS VEGAS, BASKING RIDGE, N.J. and SAN MATEO, Calif. Jan. 6, 2011 - From the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) and VideoSurf (www.videosurf.com), a video search company, today announced that VideoSurf’s new visual search app will be available on select 4G smartphones on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.  Users will be able to use VideoSurf’s free app to find and discover TV episodes, movies and video clips on the Internet by either using visual search or typing in their query.

“Use your smartphone to capture a few seconds of what you’re watching on TV and VideoSurf’s visual search technology will identify the clip and the actors, and suggest other videos to watch,” said Lior Delgo, chief executive officer and co-founder of VideoSurf.  “It’s like Shazam, but for video.”

VideoSurf’s visual search application uses VideoSurf’s patented computer vision technology to provide video identification and the most relevant search results.  Users can now share what they're watching instantly on Facebook or Twitter without typing a word. Just point your phone at the screen and VideoSurf will identify the episode, find it online and share an instant video recommendation with your friends.

A research note released by The Nielsen Company[1] in December 2010 reported that more Americans are watching video on their mobile devices than ever before. On a year-to-year basis, the number of people watching mobile video increased more than 43 percent to nearly 22 million in Q2, 2010, while the amount of time spent watching mobile video was up almost 7 percent.

VideoSurf’s mobile application will be demonstrated during CES at ShowStoppers on Jan. 6 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and at the Verizon Wireless booth (#35216, South Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center) on Jan. 7 from 12:00 3:00 p.m.

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched in December 2010, is the fastest and most advanced network in the United States providing speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless’ existing 3G network. Consumer devices with a wide range of applications are expected to be available later this year. Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network currently reaches one-third of all Americans, with plans to expand the network to the company’s entire 3G coverage area over the next three years.
