"The PV-VM202 MultiCam digital camcorder offers an exciting new way to capture high-quality digital video, digital photos, voice recordings and MPEG-4 video for quick, easy Internet use," said Rusty
Osterstock, General Manager of Panasonic's Optical Group. "Not only does its unique configuration make it fun to use, but it's extremely practical and versatile for both family and business use."
The PV-VM202 features a large, 1/3.8" CCD to capture crystal-clear digital video with up to 520 lines of horizontal resolution. The superb optical technology of Leica's Dicomar lens creates a video picture with the fine details and subtle shading characteristics of fine photography. Combined with powerful 10x high-definition optical zoom and 200x digital zoom, users can capture video images with quality never before possible.
The mega-pixel digital still camera can be used with or without the camcorder. To use the camera independently, simply detach the camera and snap on its battery adapter/built-in flash. At only 17.3 oz. (without battery), this super-portable camera easily travels anywhere. The camera is also capable of recording MPEG-4 video for Internet applications. The MPEG-4 Internet Movie feature lets users easily transfer MPEG-4 video clips with audio to a PC1 to create clip libraries, presentations, or to attach to an e-mail. The camera also includes a built-in voice recorder to capture audio memos.
Still photos, MPEG-4 video and voice recordings can all be stored on the super-compact SD Memory Card. An included 16MB card can hold up to 15 minutes of MPEG-4 video, 65 mega-pixel images or 58 minutes of recorded voice memos.
For multimedia flexibility, the PV-VM202 easily connects to a PC via an Firewire or i.Link (IEEE 1394) PC interface, USB port or RS-232 serial connection.
Other features include:
· 2.5-inch color LCD monitor
· Dual Digital Electronic Image Stabilization feature compensates for unintentional hand and camcorder movement while recording.
· The Progressive PhotoShot™ mode enables users to record still pictures with higher resolution, finer details, and smoother image contours than the normal PhotoShot function. This feature captures the image data and temporarily stores it into two separate field memories. The two images of the exact same moment are then combined with no time lag, eliminating the need for simulations. This results in 1.5 times the resolution of standard-recorded stills for a beautifully clear and brilliant picture.
· Slide-on flash light
· MagicPixä image enhancing feature for shooting full color video and stills in extremely low light situations.
· Multi-image playback allows the user to view 9 consecu-tive still images on the LCD screen in Playback mode. It's great for analyzing athletic performance such as golf swings.
· P-I-P (picture-in-picture) feature: Using the LCD monitor, P-I-P lets users insert a small still shot over the video being recorded. The miniaturized digital still image appears in the right corner of the video during playback. This feature offers a quick, handy alternative to the typical establishing shot.
· ArcSoft photo editing software suite
1 Software included. System requirements: Microsoft Windows 98SE, Windows me, Windows 2000, Windows XP.
