Miami, FL — (June 7, 2005) MTI Home Video, the leading
independent home entertainment studio, will release the thriller
DEAD WOMEN IN LINGERIE on DVD July 12, 2005. The feature marks
Maura Tierney’s film debut, as well as her first and only nude
scene.
DEAD WOMEN IN LINGERIE was co-written by the films’ star John
Romo and the films’ director and producer Erica Fox (The
Christmas Box, Timepiece). The film stars Maura Tierney (ER,
Welcome to Mooseport, Liar Liar), Dennis Christopher (It,
Chariot’s of Fire, Breaking Away), June Lockhart (Lost in Space,
General Hospital, The Big Picture), Laura Harring (The Punisher,
Mulholland Dr., Willard), and the late Jerry Orbach (Law and
Order, Dirty Dancing, Crimes and Misdemeanors).
Synopsis:
A private detective is hired to catch a serial killer who makes
immigrant garment workers his victims.
The DVD release will be shown in widescreen format, with
interactive menus, scene selection, cast biographies, optional
Spanish subtitles and trailers. The film will be priced at
$19.95 SRP for the DVD.
Production notes from writer/director Erica Fox:
“It was important to me that the sex scenes with the Nick (Romo)
and Molly (Tierney) characters always took place during the day
and were beautifully photographed while the death scenes, which
are also connected to sex, are all shot in dark or silhouette to
symbolize the difference. It was important to me that the
character of Molly, was a strong female character; smart and
funny and I believe this character was the start of that persona
for her. It was the first of many smart, funny characters she
went on to play.”
The film went on to be an AFI Showcase Feature, and was given a
theatrical release by AFI. It was also in the OAS/AFI film
festival and it went on to the Cuban Film Festival. After the
screening the 800 seat theater was emptying, but when they heard
the song over the credits, they all sat back down. The song was
sung by Fox’s step-sister, Libby Harding (Word of Mouth,
Conjunto Jardin) and was a cover of a Silvio Rodriguez song,
“Canto Arena.” Rodriguez is the equivalent of Bruce Springsteen
in Cuba. People were amazed that that song was in the film. DEAD
WOMEN IN LINGERIE was the first U.S. film to do a song rights
agreement with Cuba.
