This is funny and cute. "Silent But Deadly" is a modern day silent comedy by Jeff Cioletti and Lou Tambone. Filmed on a cold day in March, 2002, it was submitted to the Atom Film/Lucasfilm Official STAR WARS fan film awards and became a finalist. In May of 2002, it will go up against 43 other fine fan films for the top award, the George Lucas Selects award, chosen by George Lucas himself. There are also other awards such as the Fan Choice award, where the fans vote online at Atom and decide their champion.

The Bootlegger is an extremely creative and very entertaining, 13 minute mini-epic written and directed by Bo Price. - WARNING" Mature language and drugs".  It tells the story of a modern day bootlegger, descended from a family of bootleggers, as they evolve from bootlegging booze to music. Available in both Real Media and QuickTime, this is hosted at Brownfish.com, a great site, with lots of other short films, animations and webisodes.

We are sure that everyone has played a prank on a co-worker or perhaps been the
victim of one. Here are a few moments in one poor worker's day as he falls victim to an ingenious little prank pulled by his supervisor. According to the producer, Todd Washburn, Just Turn Around is based on a  real incident he pulled off.  QuickTime 6 or higher is required to play this. Length: 03:10, Modem-4MB, 100K-11.1MB. The video is hosted on SingleReel.com, who's bandwidth ranges from not-stellar to just plain awful.  We  recommend downloading the 11.1MB (100K) version if you can stomach the wait. It will take an hour or so, but it's audio and video quality are very good.

From their recent Secret Agent series, The Adventures of Gemini Eps 1 won the awards for Best Direction, Best Cast and Best picture. Minders Keepers won for best Editing and Best Writing. Another one, Reseda School of Espionage, didn't win anything but is hilarious. Also, check the site for other contestants and winners of past contests and instant Film events. Even though all these films were created over a weekend, most of them are outstanding and easily compare to flicks that have taken months or years to produce.

Excellent music, wonderful cinematography and GREAT editing! Need we say more? OK - how about funny to boot. Check out "Shelf Life" from Rufus3.com. Written and produced by Terran Gregory, this film was commissioned for the 2003 Seattle Times' 3 Minute Digital Film Contest. It takes a look into the mundane existence of an unlikely protagonist. Telling a tale expressively and visually, "Shelf Life" should at the very least instill a sense of sympathy for the ignored or rejected.

Directed, filmed and starring Craig Kuehne, The Highest Bidder is a great little short that demonstrates what happens when you take a wrong turn on the Net and connect to a auction site that is not quite right. Also, check out Craig's demo reel of far out special video effects. And if that is not enough, you are sure to enjoy Auditions - especially if you are in the business and have sat through one too many casting sessions. another 4Video selection!
