Have you checked out YouTube? - home of thousands of internet videos. Most are very amateurish but you got to admire their creativity and guts to put these videos out there. For example, the Hello Kitty Theme Song is one of the most popular videos on the site. YouTube is sort of an video version of MySpace and attracts thousands of kids and young adults who post and share their videos.


Do you love National Lampoon? If so, you got to check out National Lampoon Toga! It is a 24-hour on-demand video service that features elements of National Lampoon College, the nation's largest and fastest growing independent college television network, features from the award-winning www.NationalLampoon.com website and materials from National Lampoon's current and rich history of motion pictures, DVD titles and television programming. Check out AlexxThomspon.com, a web site, that features the artistic film-making endeavors, of guess who, yep, Alexx Thompson. Nice films - shows what you can do if you really like wide angle lenses.


If you are looking for a site with wonderful assortment of various different videos covering a cornucopia of subjects, concepts and ideas, then check out EVTV1. They offer over 20 different channels of video including areas like History, Humor, Movies, Nature, News, Politics, etc. Also, they recently announced that they will be streaming National Geographic videos as well.


Video Podcasting - Trend-setting filmmakers, Susan Buice and Arin Crumley, of the cult hit, Four Eyed Monsters have been creating quite a stir in Utah this past week.  Their sold-out panel about the future of independent media has everyone discussing the bright digital future for filmmakers, and the Four Eyed Monster's fascinating video podcasts.  more

OK, these guys are not the best film makers in the world and their writing isn't yet ready for Saturday Night Live (don't even mention their acting) but these guys are obviously having a lot of fun and you can too. You are going to love this site. ItsJerryTime. It is a very cool, very unique collection of short videos that document the life of Jerry as he tries to deal with life's ordinary trials and tribulations. An animated pastiche of images, photos and whatever, this is a wonderful example of what you can do with great writing, attitude and a lot of talent. An dof course, a truly expressive face. Then check out Google Video - maybe the best online sharing site ever. Aside from no porn or illegal activity, they don't have any rules regarding content. You also need to own the copyrights for all images and audio that you submit. You can post personal video blogs, silly family movies, events, commercials, anything. Check it out at Google Video. You should also check out the top 100 list at iFilm. Their picks are a bit different from the AtomFilms pick as iFilms includes clips from comedy and TV shows, commercials, music videos. My favorite iFilms movies are located on their Short Films page.

During the Holiday season, many web sites offered special programming to celebrate. You might want to check out the special Christmas videos web site offered by OutoftheClosetTV. Yes, this site is programmed towards gay and lesbians, but then again, holiday music is for everyone, regardless of sexual preference. Well, except for the TackyJacky videos which are a bit crass but very funny (and heterosexual).


 

Maple Shorts is an online celebration of Flash film featuring contributions from some of the best and brightest animators in Canada. You will find  a bunch of great animated shorts covering every conceivable illustrative style, tone and theme. Each half-hour episode of Maple Shorts will feature world-class work from both established studios and amateur enthusiasts, giving animators across the country the opportunity to gain national exposure, valuable feedback and a chance to hone their skills. The shorts range from four to six minutes in length, providing a fun and lively experience for kids.


 

 

Looking for a special video clip? Something hilarious? Something strange or something that you can use to get a message across? Check out "Caught on Video" a new and clean family-oriented fun website that will be introducing new features for the video surfer.  According to Hernan Cortes, “CAUGHT ON VIDEO is your one stop source of top quality Family-Friendly website, caught on tape footage segments, pics, flicks and clips that can possibly be found from around the world into one site.  Educational, informational, or just plain corny, I will have an array of selections that will keep you busy for a while." The site offers hundreds of great clips organized by dozens of categories.

 

Some people use streaming video to sell products or promote their productions kills. Others want to tell their world about their opinions and ideas while some just want to make you laugh. However, video doesn't have to be commercial or have a higher purpose. Sometimes you just want to show off how clever or athletic your kids are. That works for me. Check out this site that features videos and photos of the Karate exploits of Jay, the 11 year old martial artist.


 

Endorphin continues to evolve and improve. You can now watch free broadband  videos on Endorphin.com, a feature news video magazine. The stories range from people, to planes, cars and food in categories such as, International, National, Monterey, Music, Wheels, Aircraft, and California among others.

 Video Blogging or vbloging is becoming an international phenomenon for individuals to express themselves. Check out this blog site from the Netherlands.  Gabe McIntyre at ( http://www.gabe.nl/) said that he just completed a entire semester of teaching vlogging to his film students at the Utrecht College of Arts. He invites you to drop by and check out their work and provide some feedback Some of these are truly incredible.


This a great find. Waverly Films is "A Brooklyn based production company or a like minded group of Directors." Either way, they have created and posted some truly incredible short films, music videos and commercials on their site. Two of their videos, "The Joker" and "Wonderful Night" are nominated for the MVPA Awards, which are like the Oscars of music videos. .


 

One of the missions of the Internet Video Magazine is to spotlight movies and the producers who make them. Part of the process is the web site that the individual producers develop to promote their films and educate the public about their projects. A great example is Quito Washington's new page to premiere his latest flick "Lara Croft: Destination Australia". This page demonstrates great use of graphics and embedded video as well as educational content, not just hype. When you are all done reading about the film, you can then download and watch it. Directed by Kerry Lush, shot by Joe Chin and starring Dallas McGregor. 



Want to make movies but don't have a camcorder? Want to create your own little animated flicks but don't know how to draw? Check out 16color.com, a cool little site that enables you to create your own animated movies and share them online. It's simple and fun. Great for kids. It's amazing what you can create with just 16 basic colors.


Are you confused about what is happening in California regarding the recall of Gray Davis and the governors race? Check out this Gorilla Marketing campaign using Arnold Schwartzeneger as its target. Created by Oddcast, it is funny and creative and promotes the company's new realistic character technology. 


AARP The Magazine's web site has a feature called the "DocYOUmentary Maker" that is pretty cool. DocYOUmentary Maker enables you to be the director of your own life story. By choosing, editing, and narrating video clips of various landmark news events, you can create a personalized film and email it to everyone you know. It has everything from the landing of the first man on the moon to the cloning of the first animal.



Check out AShortFilm.com- they are a  group of independent film/video makers from Canada  trying to showcase their films. They have some good films featured on the site and are looking for more. This might be a good place to promote your short. They also have links to several other small online video sites like Rubsky Films, and  Bill Furner's films, 


 Do you care about the world around you? Are you an activist? Check out the Media That Matters Film Festival presented by MediaRights.org, a not-for-profit media arts and activist organization, was founded in July 2000 to help media makers, educators, nonprofits, and activists use documentaries to encourage action and inspire dialogue on contemporary social issues. The organization's interactive Web site is organized around 15 social issues (racial justice, environmental issues, economic justice, etc.) and contains a collection of over 4,500 social issue documentaries. The site also provides an extensive database of over 850,000 nonprofits in the U.S., a list of funding and other resources, and original articles about successful outreach campaigns. There are numerous cool and thought provoking videos on this site. 


Many independent filmmakers are turning to the web to promote their films and to get a distribution deal. Check out this site designed to promote a new horror film "Night Creep" They've combined some cool creative graphic elements with the standard promotion elements like photos and a movie trailer.


Japan's Tokyo DV  provides a very interesting look at Japanese culture, arts and news. The site features a comprehensive selection of short video clips and articles, as well as news articles and columns about what is happening in Japan. This is not really a mainstream news pub and it is a bit twisted. It is in English. Check out this recent clip spotlighting a fashion show of robots

Not only does David Mundstock, the Intrepid Berkeley explorer, visit some interesting places, he also makes some wonderful, non-commercial travel videos. Have you ever checked out the Screening Room at 'Boards? This is one of the best sites to see streaming video clips that push the edges of video and film production and demonstrate what can be done with lots of talent, creativity and style. The Screening Room consists of four sections - (Commercials, Animations, Short Films and Music Videos) each of which is outstanding in their own right.

 


Web62.com is a very interesting European Internet video web site with a intriguing collection of short films and videos. Among the 600 odd clips hosted on the site, you can find a good selection of travel, music video and sports (Soccer) videos, as well as features about European cheerleaders and fashion.


Looking for quirky? How about philosophical musings on life. How about a bunch of very short but very interesting little videos that dwell into the tiny crannies of our lives. Take a few minutes to explore Hot Dog Boy.com


Get a bunch of guys together with some wild ideas. a video camera and some editing gear and what do you get? It's "Can the Low Brow Productions" and their collection of trailers for films that they never quite completed. Some of these are pretty cool. "We make short films, write all of our own music, and design all of our own artwork."  If you like skateboarding, check out the Jeremy Miller video.

Are you ready for the real March Madness? Easter is coming and its a shoot-out between Jesus and recently deceased. Check out Air Jesus,  the overall audience favorite Extreme Film in the 2002 Viewer's Choice competition on chrysler.com/filmfest.  Also check out the other Extreme Films finalists. Produced during the 2002 Extreme Filmmaking Competition in Cannes, France, these ten films prove that the filmmakers can work—and excel—under pressure. Riding on talent and adrenaline, each director had just ten days to script, cast, shoot, edit and premiere a short film featuring a new Chrysler car. Winner Jeff Wadlow's film, Manual Labor, went on to win Best Domestic Short Film at the Wine Country Film Festival in 2002.
