Are you a fan? Do you want to create your own fan film but don't don't where to start? Check out Peters Web, a 6 part live action Spider-Man film series written and directed by Roger King.

Production started in May 2007 and filming the series  in its entirety took a year and a half. The first installment subtitled, “Becoming the Spider” took two months to edit. Prior to creating these films, Roger King had never owned or operated a camcorder let alone worked solo on a movie project. King had to learn everything from directing to prop design.

Batman : Ashes to Ashes

We love fan films - especially one as professionally created as this one. Yes it is in French but there are subtitles. Ashes to Ashes is based on the Batman character created by Bob Kane and on the graphical universe of Franck Miller’s Sin City. Original screenplay by Samuel Bodin and directed by Julien Mokrani & Samuel Bodin, made for 10 000 euros.

Where is the heavy message? Just too much action and overly attractive lead actors. From The Onion

This is a great story if you are interested in creating video movies using DV and desktop video editing software. You don't need a million dollars. "Revelations" is definitely one of the best Star War's Fan Film out there. Read about how Shane Felux and his wife Dawn Cowings spent three years and $20,000 of their own money to make our own Star Wars fan film, titled Revelations, distributed for free over the Internet. They had some help - Adobe software and hundreds of people from around the world contributed their time and talent to make this project a reality. Great editing and wonderful effects - more

Did you love Lord of the Rings? Hate it? Either way, check out this cool trailer for the  "Dork of the Rings" a parody set in MUDDLE-Earth that deals with throbbits, Elvis's, and the dark power of franchised  economy. This is director Tim Richardson' latest in a long line of indie productions, and may very well be the first to hit commercial
success. You don't need fuzzy, hairy feet to appreciate this.

Superteam makes great Stargate fan films.   Superteam didn't just want to copy Stargate - they wanted to add their own style and it's the style that's got them noticed.

"Call it a Stargate" is the 4th episode in the series and they are currently making a 5th. These flicks have been shown at conventions, in magazines & websites and they have even had emails from the makers of the Real Stargate show saying how much they loved them. You should also check out Starship Troopers - Smoothnecks". They shot it in 3d and a standard 2D version simultaneously. You can see the 2D version online or buy the 3D version.

This is brilliant and is probably the best looking Star Wars Fan Film we have ever seen! This short flick features some truly incredible lighting and camerawork. According to the producers Cory Pacione and Kirk Pennell, R.2. The Extra-Special Astromech was created on a budget of approximately $300.00 Canadian ($220.00 US). The entire film was shot in Fredericton, New Brunswick (and surrounding areas) over a 4 month period. Filming began in October (a very cold October) and ending with a few pickup shots in January. Somebody hire these guys quick

Check out LEGENDS, a Friday The 13th Fan Film and Web Site. This is an excellent example of how to use the web to promote and market a video.  You can watch the music video,  trailer and download the film from the site. Have you ever wondered what if one of the Legends of horror stepped off the screen and into reality. Wes Craven asked the same question with New Nightmare. But now we ask what if JASON stepped off the big screen and into our reality. This short Fan Film plays with that idea and places a group of friends in the path of the hockey mask killer himself.

Are you a Hobbit fan? Were you fascinated by the Lord of the Rings Trilogy? Do you love the move version? Check out this hilarious Rap video fan film parody - Lords of the Rhymes. Hosted at Atom Films.

This is really impressive. Imagine creating your own epic science fiction series and posting bits and pieces of it on the web every month. That's a lot of work and it seems to be paying off for Ian Paterson. "I'm the maker of the "Call it a Stargate" series that has been banned by MGM. Since then I've created a new series called "2 EPIC" and as like the other films I've made, it seems to be doing really well. You can either watch the series or download a trailer here.

Check out Dangerous Derk Productions and their James Bond and Star Wars fan films - James Bond 007 - "Killing in the Name" and Star Wars Castaway: Just a Jedi's Misadventure on Endor"  Both are very impressive. They have moved on from there and are now creating and marketing their own longer, more involved productions.

The new Harry Potter Movie trailer coming summer 2004 wasn't suppose to be released yet - as the promotion campaign for the anticipated blockbuster sequel has yet to start. On 11/12/03 "somehow" the trailer was leaked and started appearing on a few sites,  IVM will decline to mention them. ( We are not rewarding video pirates). Apparently Warner Bros. didn't want their trailer poorly streamed in the Internet Video underground and they decided to put it up themselves.

Do you like the Laura Croft series? Do you like athletic young women wearing sexy outfits and kicking butts? If so, you'll love this trailer for Jewel Raider, Laura Kroft's wicked step sister. "I'm not bad, I just stand that way." Hosted at GuerillaFilmmakers.com

This is truly incredible. Batman: Dead End is an extremely impressive bit of work that features Batman fighting his expected nemesis The Joker, as well as some of the most frightening leading monsters and creatures of the cinema. This 8 minute QuickTime movie is available in 2 versions for download - the incredible full screen version (160 MB) or the lighter small screen version (48 MB). You should also download the Making of the Batman: Dead End. Warning - this is very comic book violent.

Also at FanFilms, but in a little lighter vein, is Ratrix by Tom Newby. This hilarious animation is a rodent parody of the overly serious Matrix film trilogy. Very well done and quite funny with lots of Matrix in-jokes.

Fan sites are one of the hottest crazes for Internet Video. We even feature an entire section just for Star Wars fans and their films. Now we want to point out another great example. Dedicated to Kelly Clarkson,  (American Idol winner), the Rose To Kelly site includes at least 26 videos/slideshows which were created and edited together by Rose B. using a variety of home video editing software packages. Except for about 5 videos which she videotaped/made herself, the majority of the materials are from clips of Miss Clarkson's TV appearances and other TV footage. Some of these are pure fan videos - others are funny, others are parodies. Good stuff even if you don't care about Kelly Clarkson or American Idol. Download and watch them over and over.  Rose may be a video production beginner but she has natural talent. Maybe there should be an American Idol category for best video editor? What do you say, Simon?

Are you into the Buffy show?. If so, make sure you check out this film - filmed in the UK - its the one and only "Fluffy the English Vampire Slayer" This Brit send up of the TV show is sure to please Buffy fans. There's also a big section of how the film was made, lots of behind the scenes stuff. And, if you are really curious, there are a bunch of other funny productions films that these filmmakers have created.

If you like Star Wars fan films, and even if you don't, you got to check out Duality - produced by Mark Thomas and Dave Macomber, this film was all produced using Blue Screen. They shot Duality using two miniDV cameras—a Canon XL1 and a Canon GL1, both running in progressive (non-interlaced) Frame Movie mode—and transferred the footage to Macs for editing, audio mixing and the computer graphics work—the modeling, matte paintings, and animation. For info about how they made the film, go to the Crew of Two web site. Take the time to download the BIG versions. It looks great. A 4Video Pick of the Week!
