New Book Reveals the Secret World
Beneath Las Vegas
Author finds people, art, mystery,
and myth in the tunnels of Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV – When a
psychotic killer escaped a manhunt by disappearing
into the storm-drain tunnels in downtown Las Vegas
and emerging near the Strip, it stimulated the
curiosity of Las Vegas editor/writer Matthew
O’Brien. Armed with a flashlight, tape recorder, and
expandable baton, O’Brien explored the Las Vegas
flood-control system for more than four years.
Beneath the Neon: Life and Death in the Tunnels of
Las Vegas chronicles O’Brien’s adventures in
this uncharted underworld.

This book and DVD set
is a true delight.
"What's Cheap And Free In Cancun and
The Yucatan"
by
Brenton S. Mulliner
provides an insider's guide to
the best way to visit the Cancun area - including what hotels to
stay at, where to go (and where not to go), ruins, beaches, scuba
diving and the wonders
of
Aktun Chen, Excaret, Xel Ha, Tulum, Holbox and others. You can learn
the best times and the best way to enjoy all of these and many other
fun activities.
As the author lives in Playa del Carmen, near Cancun,
the info is accurate and insightful. The info is exceptional
and very down to earth, and the accompanying DVD is charming.
Reading about a destination is always good but actually seeing, and
vicariously experiencing, the sites and sounds, adds a lot more. Even
though I have visited this area before, I found new facts and
details that made
the book and DVD well worth the money.

Updated every year
(unlike most of the competition), Frommer's Cancan,
Cozumel & the Yucatan spotlight gorgeous color
photos of the stunning beaches, the colorful underwater
world, and the mysterious Maya ruins that await you.
This authoritative guide captures all the glitter of
Cancun, as well as the more rustic and authentic charms
of Cozumel, which boasts world-class diving and
snorkeling in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The
authors have lived in and written about Mexico for
years, so they're able to provide candid reviews of all
the beach resorts, the best local dining, and the
latest, hottest nightlife.
The book also features
the sleepy beachfront towns, sea turtle preserves, and
fascinating inland towns where you can bargain in local
markets. Also included is a handy Spanish-language
glossary, accurate regional and town maps (including
site plans of the major ruins), up-to-date advice on
finding the best package deals, a free color fold-out
map, and an online directory that makes trip-planning a
lot easier

Thinking of visiting
Amsterdam and looking for an interesting DVD video guide
to watch before you go? Check out the "The
Doper's Guide to Amsterdam". Yes, it covers the use
of mind altering substances, but after you get
past that, it provides an extremely comprehensive and in
depth look at what to do and how to do it the right way
in Amsterdam. Your guide, Steve Gay, provides a lot of
very detailed information, especially geared towards the
"alternative" traveler. You'll find info in here that
you'll never find on the Fodor's. |
