Free (Bundled) Video Editing Solutions

There are three main players in this area - Sony's Dvgate and MovieShaker software which comes bundled with their VAIO line of multimedia computers, Apple's iMovie2 (and iDVD) which comes with most new Macintosh systems, and Microsoft's MovieMaker 2 for Windows XP. (If you have MovieMaker on your Windows XP, it is a free download to upgrade it to MovieMaker 2).

Recently, several computer manufacturers have announced they will be shipping third party video editing solutions with their computers. Some of the are full products, others are are light versions. Others supply these third party programs with the analog video and DV video capture cards.

There are various shareware and freeware video editing programs floating around the Internet. If you have time, you may want to download and play with them. Click here to find these (and a lot more free stuff). Also, there are some proprietary editing solutions that link to a certain product or web site. For example, JVC's WOW.
