Sony's New NEX-VG30
Sony has announced the NEX-VG30 interchangeable lens camcorder. With E-Mount lenses and a 16.1MP Exmor APS-C sized CMOS sensor, the NEX-VG30 will yield a beautiful, cinematic image with shallow depth of field and low noise characteristics. This newest iteration of the VG series will also offer videographers some welcome upgrades over NEX-VG20.

Among the most notable advancements, the NEX-VG30 was built with a powered zoom seesaw lever, which will operate the new 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Power Zoom Lens and, when used in conjunction with manual zooms or even prime lenses, it will facilitate a 2x lossless digital zoom. This ground-breaking, new type of digital zoom is achieved by cropping the sensor in real time, as pioneered by Sony’s NEX-EA50UH, and entails no loss of resolution.
The new viewfinder is another well-received addition. The NEX-VG30 will have an XGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF, a display originally developed for Sony’s still cameras as a replacement for an optical viewfinder. And what a replacement it is. The XGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF features 100% coverage and 2,359,000-dot resolution, so you will see exactly what the sensor is reading. When it comes to working in low light, the EVF even presents a distinct advantage over optical viewfinders.
